How to Get Slime Out of Hair: Best Tips & Tricks
If your child has gotten slime in their hair, there are a few things you can do to get it out. First, try to get as much of the slime out of the hair as possible by hand. Then, use a shampoo that is designed to remove grease or oil from the hair. Finally, if there is still some slime left in the hair, use a conditioner to help loosen it up.
To get the slime out of the hair by hand, you will need to pick up a small amount of hair and work your way through it with soap and water. Rinse with clear water when complete. If the slime is still in the hair after this, try using dishwashing liquid to help remove it. Work some of the dishwashing liquid into the hair and let it sit for several minutes. Rinse with clear water, then use a conditioner to get the slime out of the hair. The conditioner should help dissolve any leftover slime or dirt in the hair.
After you have removed as much slime from your child’s hair as possible, wash their hair with shampoo designed to remove grease or oil. You can find this type of shampoo at most drug stores or grocery stores, and it should be inexpensive to purchase. The shampoo will help remove the greasy residue that is left behind after you have removed the slime from the hair, as well as any debris (dirt, lint, etc.) that might be trapped in the hair.
If there is still some slime left in your child’s hair, you can use a conditioner to help loosen it up. Work the conditioner into the hair, then let it sit for several minutes before rinsing with clear water. Finally, wash your child’s hair with shampoo as above to remove any remaining residue.
After your child’s slime is removed, you may notice that their hair feels different than it felt before the incident. If this is the case, consider using a leave-in conditioner after showering for several days to help restore moisture and shine to your child’s hair.
If any of the slime remains in the hair after being washed several times, consider getting help from a professional. A beauty salon may be able to get the remaining slime out of your child’s hair. In rare cases, there may be permanent damage that cannot be repaired with normal hair care products. If this is the case, you may have to cut off some length of hair so it doesn’t look disgusting.
If your child is suffering from hair loss after getting slime in their hair, there are many factors to consider. First, you will need to determine what type of slime they were exposed to (if possible). Play-doh doesn’t typically cause hair loss, but other types of slime (like oobleck) may be more dangerous. Second, you will want to get your child checked by a doctor if they are showing other symptoms, such as rash on the scalp or skin irritation in general. A doctor can recommend treatments for both the slime and any potential side effects from exposure.
If all of this seems excessive, just remember that hair is an essential part of our self-image. You wouldn’t want to see your kid suffer from a loss of hair, so make sure to take the right steps in getting it taken care of!
